Are Hash Browns Gluten Free?

I’ve seen some crazy things on labels. Gluten in places you’d never think it would be. Should hash browns be gluten free? Yes. But are they always? No. Usually though.

Hash browns are just sliced potatoes. They should be safe in general. But if you buy a package, always check the ingredients. Sometimes they throw in some weird ingredients to help with taste, appearance and whatever else they deem appropriate.

If you have the right slicer, you could always make your own gluten free hash browns without buying them in a package! Sometimes, packaged hash browns are just easier – let’s be honest!

So just check the packaging as with everything else!

Do I Have To Make Gluten Free Hash Browns in a Crockpot?

Not at all! I prefer them in the crockpot, though, because I feel when it has a few hours to just sit, the flavors just infuse everything better. And the cleanup (at dinner time) is also easier!

You can cook the hashbrowns however you like, then warm up the cheese sauce in a sauce pan, add the hash browns and let them sit for 10 minutes. But, like I said, I much prefer the slow cooker!

How to Store Cheesy Hash Browns

Storing these cheesy hashbrowns is super simple! Just grab your favorite airtight container, load it up, and keep them in the fridge. They will stay fresh for at least 3-4 days if stored properly.

You can eat them cold or warm them up for leftovers. My favorite way to eat the leftovers is to make scrambled eggs and right before the eggs are done cooking, I will add some cheesy hash browns and mix them up. They will warm up as the eggs finish cooking and then breakfast is served!
